About Zac Seipel, Owner

In Zac’s relentless pursuit of excellence, each uniquely handcrafted piece of furniture brings him closer to creating perfection from an imperfect grain of wood.

From the initial consultation to the finished product, Zac works with clients’ inspirations and the natural grain of wood to craft furniture that is elegant, stylish, distinct, and functional.

Zac’s passion for woodworking began while working with Brad Reed Nelson of Board by Design in Carbondale, Colorado where Zac fell in love with the process or working with his hands and working hard.

Zac continued to devote himself to his craft through classes at the Anderson Ranch arts center where he was inspired by Craig Vandell Stevens who emphasized traditional methods of woodworking. Zac reached a new level of precision and care through the use of hand tools and traditional methods.

Furniture continued to inspire Zac, and even after making the move to Jackson Hole, he seemed to be instinctively drawn to furniture. Zac began work at WRJ, an interior design firm that further refined Zac’s taste for high-end furniture. He was able to travel to furniture markets to gauge and touch some of the finest furniture in the world.

Following WRJ, Zac decided to fully embrace what seemed to be his life’s calling and began work with Rob Deering to restore antique furniture. He learned, firsthand, by administering sleek repairs on furniture from the 1400’s and 1500’s, which techniques withstand the test of time, and which do not.

Finally, Charlie Thomas of Magpie Furniture, Zac’s final apprenticeship, gave Zac the trust and opportunity to make pieces from start to finish. He challenged Zac and taught him many of the technical skills he uses today involving true joinery and trigonometry. “He is the one who made me a true woodworker.”

Zac started his own brand in Jackson Hole with The Wood Shop in 2018.
